Friends of Sayner-Star Lake

"Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much" - Helen Keller

The Sayner-Star Lake Chamber of Commerce would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for your generous donation to our community. With your support, you afford the Chamber of Commerce the ability to continue to bring awareness to our local businesses, services and the growth of our events that we hope you all enjoy as much as we do! Sayner-Star Lake is a community like no other. We are all so privileged to have the beauty that surrounds us, and a small town feel that brings us all back to the way the Northwoods used to be. We are, and always will be grateful for you!

Sincerely,

Jessica Drallmeier

Sayner-Star Lake Chamber of Commerce President

Molly, Chris, Libbey, Peggy, Eileen, Drew, Robbie, & Kate Brennan: “The Brennan Family has been coming up to Star Lake since 1936. Ed and Sabina Brennan built their cottage on ‘Oie's Point’ during the late '30s, bringing their 5 sons, Jack, Bob, Jim, Bill, and Tom. The 5 ‘Brennan Boys’ continued to come up to Star Lake as the decades passed, bringing their families and friends, and establishing deeper roots at this beautiful place. I am one of Bob Brennan's kids, and my 7 siblings and I are still coming up to the original cabin with our families (the 4th generation!). As of LAST summer, the start of the 5th generation of Brennans made her appearance! We continue to enjoy this magical lake, honoring our dear Grandparents that made this place a unique and special part of our family for generations to come!”

Jules Hoffman: "I and my parents before me were regulars at Rismons Lodge. I even worked a couple summers there. Dad was friends with Lawrence Ellerman and the Olsons. This all goes back to 1948."

Gary Monilaw: “As a young boy, I spent many summers in Sayner. We had property on Razorback Lake, across the street from Mike Froelich’s cabins. Every Saturday he would show movies on the back wall of his candy store.”

Larry Obermann: “Summer and Fall were my favorite times in the area. Used to hunt off Razorback Road and stay at Hintz’s North Star. In fact, I stayed many times in the old lodge that was haunted. My niece gave me a painting she did of the Minnow Ladies Shack.”

Michael & Nancy Prucha: “Mike and his family started coming to North Star Lodge when he was a young boy. His father Jim Prucha retired to Star Lake. Mike and our children would spend time every summer visiting Grandpa and Grandma. Our two boys, Jim and Nathan, come to Errington's every Fall. Mike and I stay at Errington's usually a couple of times a year.”

Richard & Linda Simatic: “Family Vacation. No other phrase got my heart strings singing more quickly or more gladly than those two words. And what better place to take a family for vacation than Sayner-Star Lake. I’ve been vacationing in what my father always called God’s Country for over sixty years.

Sayner-Star Lake is to me many things. It certainly is a place that contains countless trees, clear sparkling waters, bright endless stars, fascinating wildlife, and fun places to visit and eat at, but it is also a ‘feeling’.

It’s a place where time stands still. It is a place where spending time with those I love and creating lasting memories matters more to me than anything else. It is a place where I feel calm and centered. It is a place where I feel at home.

Five generations of our family have spent time vacationing in Sayner-Star Lake. Some still camp, some stay in a lakeside rental, while others enjoy the accommodations at the White Birch Village. Thing is, Sayner-Star Lake has become like a second home to our Family. A place to find peace and comfort, to acknowledge that while life does change, some things can remain the same.”

Jennifer, Eric, Mikayla, and Kevin Stapleton: “Our family has owned a place in Sayner on Plum Lake since the 80s and we absolutely still love it up there and the surrounding areas. It's such a joy to spend time there and we are so thankful my parents got us going up there so long ago. My children love it too! Great memories!!!”
