Northwoods Fall Biking
One of the best ways to take in the breathtaking fall colors of Sayner-Star Lake is on two wheels. We’re surrounded by the wild Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest, so we’re the ideal place to take in the fall color show. We have biking options for everyone, including families or new riders, thrill-seeking mountain bikers and long-distance road riders. Here are three colorful fall riding options.
Mountain biking: Razorback Ridges
Mountain bikers will find fall trail riding heaven just outside Sayner. Razorback Ridges is a beautiful trail system containing more than 12 miles of trails, including fast-riding double track and challenging single track options. To get to the trails, take County Highway N about two miles west from Sayner to the parking area and trailhead on Razorback Road.
Paved trail riding: Heart of Vilas County Paved Bike Trail System
One of the most beautiful fall trails in Wisconsin runs through Sayner, one block off Main Street. The Heart of Vilas County Paved Bike Trail System is a paved route that travels from St. Germain north to Sayner-Star Lake, to Boulder Junction and on to Manitowish Waters. It’s a perfect place for a tranquil walk and it’s a popular cycling route, ideal for families as well as cyclists seeking a longer ride.
Scenic road tour: Rustic Road 60
Rustic Road 60 is considered one of the state’s most spectacular autumn drives and it’s lightly traveled, so it’s a great place for a fall bike ride. The winding route follows County Highway K, northwest of Star Lake. The route passes old logging camps, hiking trailheads and an old saw mill in Star Lake.
Fall lodging is still available in Sayner-Star Lake and this beautiful biking season passes quickly. Plan your trip today!
