Two Perfect Rides
Sayner-Star Lake is home to some of the best biking in the Northwoods. Two great trails are located in the heart of the community, close to lodging and restaurants. They provide very different riding experiences. Here’s a quick guide to Sayner-Star Lake’s two premier bike trail systems and what sets each trail apart.
Razorback Ridges
You’ll find the Razorback Ridges trails just North of Highway N, with a trailhead on Razorback Road in Sayner. These are fantastic mountain biking trails. There are 12 miles of trails with options for riders of all levels. The trails are marked by degree of difficulty, so you can easily find your perfect ride. The trails are on rolling terrain and some are a little challenging—trails with names like Hair Raiser and Deadman’s Curve are perfect for riders in search of thrills. Others may prefer to stick to the easy-riding Pine Forest Trail or the Blueberry Lake Loop. Learn more here.
Heart of Vilas County Paved Bike Trail System
This extraordinary trail runs through the heart of Sayner-Star Lake. It’s a 52-mile paved trail that travels from St. Germain north to Sayner-Star Lake and on to Boulder Junction, Manitowish Waters and Mercer. While the trail has the length to satisfy the serious cyclist, it’s a gentle, shaded route that’s perfect for families or people who ride occasionally. In Sayner, the trail is located a block off Main Street, near restaurants that are perfect for post-ride refueling. See a Sayner-Star Lake area trail map here.
