When is the perfect time to start planning your next family vacation? The answer is now, while the year is young! So, where’s it going to be?

Let your journey take you to Sayner-Star Lake, where the air is fresh, the lakes are crystal clear and you'll be captivated by nature. A trip to our neck of the woods will be one where you'll wish that time could stand still – as still as the lake’s water in the morning. So, grab a cup of coffee, find a comfy spot on the couch and let’s explore the possibilities of your next vacation to northern Wisconsin!

1. Relax and unplug

Most visitors come to recharge and leave their life behind for a bit. That’s what vacation is all about! We have resorts and accommodations that will make you feel so comfortable, you’ll forget all about home! But, if you insist on checking your notifications, feel free to bring your devices along. Although you’ve come to the Northwoods to unplug and relax, you can still do so without losing touch with what’s important at home. After all, Wi-Fi is pretty common these days, even around Sayner-Star Lake!

2. Discover the waters

With 50 named lakes and 95 unnamed lakes, there is plenty of water to discover in the summer or the winter! Sayner-Star Lake is a paddler’s dream – you’ll have no problem finding waters that are quiet and serene. But, if you’re looking for a bit more action, waterskiing and tubing is another vacationer’s favorite! In the summer there are even weekly waterski shows by the Plum Ski-ters water ski show team. Hop on the pontoon for a sunset cruise and catch a ski show from the boat.

Let’s not forget the multitude of fishing hotspots. Don't know where to begin?  Get in touch with an area fishing guide that will help lead you to the fish.  Best yet, the fishing stories you’ll take home will probably be true!

3. Let the trail guide you

Explore our recreational trails for an up-close and personal experience with nature. In the summer, bring your bikes for some of the best biking in the Midwest. Sayner-Star Lake is linked to surrounding communities by over 50 miles of trails on the Heart of Vilas County Paved Bike Trail. If biking isn’t quite your thing, then let’s talk hiking! Nature trails abound in the area. You’ll find trails that run parallel to the lake, picture-perfect overlooks, and scenic boardwalks, among many other things.

Or, visit the area during the cooler months to experience winter recreation at its finest! In the Sayner-Star Lake area alone there are over 80 miles of groomed snowmobile trails, plus miles and miles of pristine cross-country ski and snowshoe trails. It really doesn’t get much better!

4. Tempt your taste buds

No vacation to Sayner-Star Lake would be complete without a stop at an “up north” establishment for a Northwoods fish fry or an old-fashioned. Area restaurants use tried and true recipes with the freshest of ingredients to tempt your taste buds. In the summer there might be a wait, but it’ll be oh-so-worth-it!

There are so many things to see and do while vacationing in our neck of the woods – we’re really only skimming the surface. Continue to explore the possibilities and book your next getaway today!
