4 Must-Do Winter Activities in Sayner-Star Lake
Sayner-Star Lake is loaded with activities to keep you entertained on your next winter getaway to the Northwoods. You can easily dedicate an entire week to the fun ahead! Here are four must-do activities:
1. Snowmobiling
Sayner-Star Lake is home to nearly 80 miles of groomed snowmobile trails, maintained by the Sayner-Star Lake Barnstormers. Experience an exciting ride through the wooded landscape of the Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest, over lakes, and past wildlife. Our trails link to neighboring communities, with plenty of places for a pit-stop along the way!
2. Ice Fishing
Bring your jig poles and drop a line in one of our crystal clear lakes. The Sayner-Star Lake area is known as a prime fishing destination in northern Wisconsin. There are dozens of lakes that are great for catching pan fish, crappies, walleye and more. Nothing beats a day of fresh northern air while fishing on frozen waters!
3. Razorback Ridges
Grab your skis and explore the popular Razorback Ridges, just two miles west of Sayner. This trail system (great for all skill levels) winds for twelve miles through lush towering pines and is groomed in the winter for cross-country skiing. There's even a warming shelter located at the trailhead.
4. Dining
Warm up after a day of exploring and grab a bite to eat at one of our dining establishments. You can find seafood dishes prepared with the finest of ingredients, a juicy burger or steak grilled to perfection, and (of course) a Northwoods fish fry! For a unique fish dish, head to Stillwaters Food & Spirits in Star Lake to give their house specialty, the Sicilian Walleye a try. You won't leave Sayner-Star Lake hungry!
